Work

I've worked with brands and businesses big and small, who are building cool things.

My experience spans the visual and communications design space, from branding, packaging, and website design, to corporate communications, textile and pattern design, and social media graphics.I've highlighted some of my favourite personal and client projects below.

Textile Design

2022

Brief
To design a line of six scarves and boubous for the modern woman, inspired by traditional ankara fabric patterns.

The Challenge

The mother-daughter duo behind ima-ima were launching a line of scarves as the first product in their new business, and they approached me with the project, as we had previously worked together on the branding for both ima-ima and The Garment Factory, its parent brand.Their idea for this line of scarves was to create something wholly African, but still quite modern, inspired by traditional ankara fabric.

The Process

Because I wanted the clients to feel full ownership of the completed work, it was a highly collaborative process from start to finish. They shared their preferred colour families and selected a number of swatches of 'inspiration' fabric patterns, which we narrowed down into 6 final patterns.I then digitised and separated each pattern into its component parts, before starting the process of making these patterns work as unique scarf designs while also keeping true to the aesthetics and feel of the original fabrics. To prepare the scarves for production, I worked with the in-house designer at ima-ima to create tech specifications for the manufacturer.

Original Prints

The Outcome

The resulting scarf patterns reimagined traditional ankara prints in multiple ways, from modern reinterpretations (as in the Record and Filigree print scarves) to as-is replications of the design (as in the Button and ABC prints).

To design brochures, reports, emails, and presentations to support the promotion of the AfDB's Digital Transformation Action Plan.

AFDB Sandbox Report Mockup

The Challenge

The Industrial and Trade Development department of the African Development Bank required the services of a graphic designer to support the launch and promotion of its Digital Transformation Strategy and Action Plan. The tasks for this project included the design of brochures, email templates, PowerPoint presentations, social media and web graphics, and web banners for use within and outside the organisation. Here are links to some of the final reports below:

The Earthy Goodness

Logo | Packaging Design

2018

Brief
To redesign the logo and packaging for The Earthy Goodness, a family-friendly skincare brand that prides itself on the use of premium natural ingredients.

The Earthy Goodness Logo

The Challenge

Ibironke, the founder of The Earthy Goodness, approached me in 2018 to redesign her skincare brand. Her products were made from high-quality ingredients and they worked well, but she worried that the current branding wasn't appealing to her target market. She wanted us to design a logo and brand assets that appealed to a more upmarket segment, and that reflected the handmade artisanal quality of her soaps and lotions. In addition to this, we needed to design new product labels for existing products, as well as for a new product line targeted at mothers of babies and young children.

CapitalSquare

Identity | Web | Communications

2019

The Brief
To redesign the logo, website, and social media assets for CapitalSquare, a coworking space in Lagos.

The Earthy Goodness Logo

The Challenge

CapitalSquare had been in existence for 5 years at the time of this rebrand. It was a pioneer of the Nigerian coworking industry when it launched in 2013, but as the idea grew in popularity and more competitors emerged, there was a need to reposition the brand and target a specific niche. Another major driver for the logo refresh was to remove confusion with the previous logo, which included an unfortunately placed ampersand "&", leading people to call the brand "Capital and Square" instead of "CapitalSquare"My task as the owner, operator, and in-house designer, was to fix this confusion, while creating a new brand identity that was more aspirational and appealed to the creative class, but still keeping CapitalSquare's signature yellow.

The Garment Factory

Identity

2022

The Brief
To redesign the logo, packaging, and brand assets for The Garment Factory, a fashion designer in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Earthy Goodness Logo

The Challenge

Koko, the founder of The Garment Factory, contacted me in early 2022. She wanted a brand refresh, as her company was transitioning from a textile design and production house, to a ready-to-wear fashion company. Their mode of business was changing, along with their customer base, and marketing channels, and they needed an identity that would reflect that. The resulting brand is simple, modern, and minimalist, allowing the vibrant patterns and designs of the clothes to take centre stage.

Design Process

So there are no surprises, I've put together a 5-stage design process, from the moment you submit the enquiry form until your project is complete and all files are delivered.

Stage 1: Discovery

After you submit the enquiry form, I'll review your response and schedule a call to learn more about you and your project. If we're a good fit, we'll move on to the next stage.

Stage 2: Proposal & Deposit

I'll send over a proposal and contract for you to review and sign. The proposal will include the project scope, timeline, deliverables, fees, and terms of the engagement. If everything sounds good, you can confirm the project and lock down the dates by paying a deposit.

Stage 3: Conceptualisation

Now the work begins! I'll start the design process by creating a mood board based on all the information gathered during the discovery stage. The purpose of this stage is to bring both of our ideas into a cohesive concept and narrow down the look and feel we're going for. I will also share rough drafts and sketches during this stage.

Stage 4: Design

Next, I'll start working on the digital design and share 1 to 2 concepts inspired by the mood board created earlier. We'll then work together to revise and refine the design until we come up with something that works perfectly.

Stage 5: Handover

When we're both happy with the final designs, I'll send them to you with instructions on how to save, use, and edit them. And you're ready to show off your new brand!

FAQs

Can I get just a logo?

I believe that for a brand identity to have the maximum impact, it needs to be a cohesive system that includes (at the very least) brand colours, typography, and multiple logo variations for different situations and platforms. For this reason, I don't offer standalone logos.

How much do your services cost?

The pricing for my brand packages and add-ons is on my services page, but if you need a custom package or any other services, I will only be able to quote for that after we've discussed the scope of your project.

How does payment work?

I offer a payment plan for all services. Depending on your project scope, I will require 40% to 70% payment upfront, with the balance paid during the course of the project or on completion. Payment can be made via bank transfer or online via Paystack.

Please note that payment must be received in full before I can send you the final design files.

What do I need to have ready before starting a project?

For branding projects, you need to ensure that the brand name is available to use before we start the project (preferably before you fill out the enquiry form).

For websites, editorial, social media and others, please make sure that all copy/text, images, brand assets, and videos are available a week before your project start date. Having all these items available on time helps us prevent delays during the project.

How will I receive my final designs?

Final design files will be shared with you via WeTransfer or another online file-sharing service.

Logos, icons, and patterns will be sent in EPS, SVG, PNG, and editable PDF formats. All printable materials will be sent as print-ready PDFs, and mockups will be sent as JPG and/or PNG files. Social media templates will be shared on Canva. Your brand guidelines will be shared as a PDF, and for extensive branding projects, the brand guidelines may also be shared as a standalone webpage, if requested.

What are brand guidelines, anyway?

Brand Guidelines are a document that outlines your new brand identity and provides you with all the information you need to implement your branding across your business.

It includes details of all logo variations and where/how to use them, codes and conversions for your brand colours, typography and photography recommendations, file explanations, and more.

Can I add additional work to an ongoing project?

Of course you can! Just send me an email to let me know.

Once we determine what the additional designs will be, I'll send over a new proposal/invoice. However, due to the increased scope and my booking schedule, your project deadline may need to be pushed back.

What are your work hours?

My hours are 9am - 2pm, and 4pm - 6pm (West African Time), Monday - Friday.

You can send me an email anytime (even if its outside office hours), and I'll be sure to respond as soon as I'm back at work.
